Hoewel hij decennia lang is blijven optreden, kennen we Tommy hunt vooral als één van de eerste grote soulzangers uit begin jaren zestig. Zijn grote hits werden al eerder verzameld, hier draait het om obscuurder materiaal, opgenomen voor Atlantic, Capitol en natturlijk het label waar hij zijn successen vierde, Scepter. Daarnaast werd nog een tape ontdekt met vijf niet eerder uitgebrachte opnames, die allen het beeld van een groot, en wellicht inmiddels wat ondergewaardeerd soulzanger alleen maar bevestigen.
