Jon Savage's 1968 - The Year The World Burned De eerste verzamelaar uit deze ondertussen vierdelige reeks, fungeerde meer als soundtrack van Jon Savage's boek 1966. Ook nu volgens eigen inzicht verzamelde hij een dubbel-cd aan liedjes die zijn jaar, in dit geval 1968, samenvatten. Hoewel er uiteraard meerdere classics volgen laat hij zich niet leiden door de hits, al waren er gebeurtenissen als de moord op Martin Luther King, die enkele keuzes onvermijdelijk doen maken. Zo horen we uiteraard Say It Loud! I'm Black And I'm Proud van James Brown, maar daarnaast ook tracks van The Kinks, The Beau Brummels, Spirit en MC5 in een volgorde die inderdaad twee cd's lang blijven aanspreken.
