Even had Damon Gough de wereld aan zijn voeten toen in 2000 het album The Hour Of The Bewilderbeast uitkwam. Met leden van Alfie en Doves maakte Gough (vernoemd naar een karakter uit Sam & His Magic Ball) nam hij achttien miniatuurtjes op die opvielen door het lo-fi karakter en een hoog melodisch gehalte. Hij won er even later zelfs de Mercury Prize mee en het album geldt nu als een klassieker. Hoog tijd voor een deluxe editie met zestien bonustracks (op de fraai uitgevoerde 3LP dertien). Hierop een paar b-kantjes van eerder verschenen EP's en wat demo's en outtakes die andermaal laten zien dar Gough creatief op zijn hoogtepunt zat.
