Recensie
Het label Nonesuch heeft in de loop der jaren een formidabele catalogus opgebouw met werk van Amerikaanse minimal composers. De opnamen van Steve Reichs Music for 18 Musicians door onder anderen de componist zelf, Different Trains door het Kronos Quartet en Tehillim door het Schönberg Ensemble zijn inmiddels echte klassiekers, die geen enkele liefhebber van dit repertoire in zijn collectie mag missen. Enkele jaren geleden bracht Nonesuch een Reich-retrospectief uit, waarin deze opnamen zijn vertegenwoordigd, samen met vele andere hoogtepunten uit Reichs oeuvre: Eight Lines, New York Counterpoint, Triple Quartet, etc. Zelfs voor wie de minimal music tot op heden een onontgonnen terrein was, wordt het zo wel heel aantrekkelijk kennis te maken met het werk van een van de invloedrijkste Amerikaanse componisten uit de tweede helft van de twintigste eeuw.
