Peter Gabriel start in 1989, een paar jaar na de stichting van het festival WOMAD dit label waarop Westerse producers met niet-Westerse artiesten een precedent scheppen in het onderzoek naar de relatie hiertussen. Passie, atmosfeer en grooves, kortom voor hen met de oortjes open. Dik tweehonderd albums verder (and counting) serveert Real World het onmogelijke: een dwarsdoorsnede op drie rijke schijven. Klassieke highlights (disc een), ondergeschoven kindjes (disc twee, zeer interessant) en publiekslievelingen na stemming. Achtenveertig tracks totaal met achtentwintig pagina's duiding in een handzaam en smaakvol doosje voor een zacht prijsje. Magisch.
