The Mystery Lights are back with their most ambitious work to date. With Wayne Gordon in the producer's chair, the group delivers an eclectic mix of genuine psychedelia, punk, art rock and even a splash of country with the Kinks(y) pop earworm "I'm Sorry I Forgot Your Name".
The album's psychedelic highlights, "Purgatory", "Cerebral Crack" and "Can't Sleep Through the Silence", are dark and trippy and fall somewhere between the guitar-driven, lysergic chaos of 13th Floor Elevators and the punky, tongue-in-cheek madness of The Monks. But throughout, there's a cohesion created by the high level of musicianship, sincere lyrics and attention to detail that make for a wild, raw yet unashamedly catchy album dripping with all the sing-along hooks that have made Mystery Lights one of the most exciting live bands on the scene.
- The album was produced by Wayne Gordon in Los Angeles, CA.
