Na een halve eeuw ontwikkeling, inspiratie en hothouse flowerings kun je misschien stellen dat soul-funk z’n perfecte staat heeft bereikt. En Dojo Cuts is daar een levend voorbeeld van. Lean, mean and heavy… geen basnoot of hi-hat klap zit op de verkeerde plek, alles is in dienst van de groove. En het raamwerk is duidelijk dat van late jaren 60 vroege jaren 70 Stax en Atlantic releases. Met James Brown en Otis Redding in de bagage zijn Dojo Cuts de onomstreden soulkampioenen.
