CISTERCIAN MONKS OF STIFT HEILIGENK

Zeven jaar geleden kwam Chant – Music for Paradise (een album met Gregoriaanse gezangen) van de Cisterciënzer monniken van klooster Stift Heiligenkreuz internationaal in de album top voor popsongs terecht. De middeleeuwse Gregoriaanse gezangen worden op dit album afgewisseld met hypnotiserende Chassidische en Jemenitische gezangen, waarvan sommigen al meer dan 2000 jaar oud zijn. Een boeiend album met de eenstemmige gezangen van de kluizenaars uit het Wenerwoud en de vocalen van Timna Brauer en het Elias Meiri Ensemble. Het idee voor boeiende en afwisselende album ontstond na de recente terroristische gebeurtenissen in Parijs.

The Cistercian Monks of Stift Heiligenkreuz

Introducing a unique cross-faith musical collaboration, “Chant For Peace” features the million-selling Monks of Stift Heiligenkreuz. “Chant For Peace” is their first major-label album since the 2008 global hit, “Chant – Music For Paradise” – which stormed the POP CHARTS in Germany, Austria, USA, UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Poland and many others for weeks.

Now, the Monks form a unique musical partnership with best-selling Jewish vocalist, Timna Brauer – herself a household name in Austria. Timna represented Austria at the 1986 Eurovision Song Contest, and will perform at this year’s event in Vienna in May and “Chant For Peace” combines Timna’s expertise in Jewish sacred music with the Gregorian Chant from the Christian monastic tradition.

This is hypnotic, haunting, mesmerising music – music with a powerful, potent message of peace, uniting different religions on one album.
