Shreveport Louisiana Southern Soul master Eddy Giles was the star of Dee Marais’ Murco label, for which he recorded a handful of singles between 1967 and 1969, scoring with the regional hit ‘Losing Boy’.
“Southern Soul Brother” gathers together all his recordings for the label, for the first time ever, including the one single that was licensed to Silver Fox. It highlights an incredibly talented singer who was adept at covering all the bases required of soul singers of the time, from ballads such as ‘Happy Man’ and ‘While I’m Away (Keep The Faith)’ to the uptempo dance styles of the hit and ‘Eddy’s Go Go Train’.
Access to the master tapes means perfect sound and we will be featuring three previously unreleased recordings including a bluesy alternative version of his final Murco single ‘Ain’t Gonna Worry No More’, the delightful ‘Stick With You Like Glue’ and ‘Pins & Needle’ plus some extended issued sides.
