Celluloid Records was een Frans-Amerikaans platenlabel, dat in New York actief was van 1976 tot 1989 en in die periode een serie eclectische en baanbrekende producties het licht deed zien, vooral in de jaren '80, onder auspiciën van huisproducer Bill Laswell. Deze compilatie bevat de meest essentiële opnamen van Celluloid, waaronder new wave, wereldmuziek en funk, maar ook de vroegste New Yorkse hip-hop.
