Voor het eerst sinds 1984 komt deze iconische soundtrack met Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Richard Pryor en Quincy Jones op LP uit. De recensies waren bij verschijnen in de bioscoop bijzonder slecht, maar de film en z’n soundtrack groeide in de jaren die volgden uit tot cult-klassiekers met het opzwepende 'A Brand New Day' als grote hit.
